Embellish by R. L. Sloan

Solis Burkes was gang raped when she was just a young girl. She was so traumatized she blocked most of it from her mind; even the names of those who committed the heinous crime. Now, years later, Solis is a young woman who just wants to be loved. The rape left its mark on Solis; she has low self-esteem, self-hatred, and has lived for years in terror.

When she meets Nacio, she is shocked how well he knows her. Nacio is a handsome vampire many centuries old and he has been watching Solis almost her whole life. She is his destiny and the attraction between the two sizzles into a raging inferno. Solis has finally met her true love and is happy. That is, until she and Nacio are at a local fair and all hell breaks loose.

Four siblings who have much evil in them, murder, theft, extortion, thrive on violence. The oldest, Childress, inherited her family's power of voodoo and inflicts much harm with her spells and mind. But Solis's memory of the rape returns at the fair when she stumbles into Childress, and she immediately knows that she and her brothers inflicted the harm to Soli. She wants revenge in a bad way and will even ask Nacio to aid her.

Embellish is a paranormal treat. To be honest, I enjoyed the character Childress more than any other. She had more depth and layers to her than anyone else. That being said, the plot unfolded nicely and the writing was smooth. It kept me up late turning the pages wondering what was going to happen next. I'm happy to see a sequel is in the works and I look forward to reading it. If your looking for something dark and sexy to read, give Embellish a try!

The old grey donkey, Eeyore stood by himself in a thistly corner of the Forest, his front feet well apart, his head on one side, and thought about things. Sometimes he thought sadly to himself, "Why?" and sometimes he thought, "Wherefore?" and sometimes he thought, "Inasmuch as which?" and sometimes he didn't quite know what he was thinking about.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to leave a comment. It's appreciated.
