Award winning author Deb Smith brings us a new paranormal series written under the name of Leigh Bridger.
Livia Belane is a Soul Catcher. She is able to see and banish demons back to hell. When she banishes one particular demon who is about to wipe out her whole town with the pox, it sets forth a chain of events that last for centuries. The demon is the soul mate of another demon called Pig Face who vows to kill Livia and all her loved ones in every life they live in revenge.
Livia never remembers who she is until it's almost too late. In each new life, she and her loved ones are killed by the demon. But in this particular life, Leigh starts to gain memories of her past lives and uses them as a tool to regain her full powers of Soul Catching.
When she is almost killed, she calls out for Ian to help her. Ian is her husband through all their lives, and he is a Soul Jumper. His form is never the same, he claims a body as the soul leaves. But even though he is anxious to see his soul mate Livia, she cringes from him. Because in this particular life, he's taken the form of the man who almost killed Livia.
Livia and Ian have such a beautiful love shown through their memories of lives past. Soul Catcher is a new twist to the paranormal genre with how the soul is reincarnated and that soul mates always find one another. Livia is a strong character, and Ian compliments her perfectly. It took me awhile to get the chain of events right in my head the way the story is written, but it's written that way to unveil truths as the plot unfolds. I'll definitely be picking up the next one.

Internet Dating is Not Like Ordering a Pizza by Cherie Burbach

Internet Dating is Not Like Ordering a Pizza is geared toward those folks who have been unsuccessful with computer dating.
Cherie takes us through the steps to write a terrific profile with a positive approach. A few pointers mentioned are: Don't to talk about what you do. Your hoping to meet someone, not seeking a job. Don't say "I'm just your average Joe or gal". Folks want to know the real you so don't disqualify yourself.
Coffee dates are for when you want to meet that person finally face-to-face. It's the time you want to utilize to decide if you want to go on a real date. Cherie discusses a few rules you should know to hopefully make it a success. For example, public places are a must. The length of the meeting and how and who should pay is also a few topics touched on.
Safety, be yourself, and be positive are key elements in this helpful book. Cherie herself met her husband through internet dating. I've seen the results myself. A few good friends and members of my family have had success with internet dating. It works! There is that perfect someone out there for you and Cherie Burbach helps you utilize the online tools available to you to help you with your success. Internet Dating is not like Ordering a Pizza is very upbeat and easy to read. A great addition to your self-help section of your bookshelf. I'm already married and after reading this book, I felt good about myself. Imagine the possibilities for those single folks looking for their special someone using computer dating.

Rick & Bubba's Guide to the Almost Nearly Perfect Marriage

Rick Burgess and Bill "Bubba" Bussey are self-proclaimed fattest and sexiest men in America. They bring us this guide to help with marriage. No marriage is perfect and Rick and Bubba concur. But with their faith, they explain with much humor how you can reach your goal.
They share much of their own experiences with their own wives, and I just have to giggle every now or then because much of it is so true! And they aren't embarrassed to talk about it either.
Included with the guide is a cd which is their radio show sharing many stories included in the book. It will have you stitches and nodding your head in agreement.
Bubba and Rick realize no marriage is perfect, but this guide can show you how you can have fun along the way and also live a fulfilling life.

The Ocean Between by Lynda Coker
Victoria Ballard is a vice president in her father’s company. She has no need for men, not that she doesn’t like them, but they don’t fit into her life. She spends her free time at a local orphanage and she is in the process of adopting four children.
Rashad is used to being obeyed and getting what he wants. He may desire and want
The Ocean Between is a sensual and riveting romantic read. Victoria and Rashad come from completely two different worlds and Lynda Coker does a fantastic job of depicting them moving within both with their hardships and triumphs. I cheered for the couple and I cried for them. Such emotion is truly only wrought from a wizard with words and storytelling. This is the first novel I have read from Lynda Coker, but I will look forward to reading more of her work in the future. Absolutely wonderful!

Shelly Nicholson - Guest Blog and New Children's Book
"A Stinky Surprise for Jake the Snake"..."Jake the Snake is having the “worstest” year of his whole entire life. With an “all day kind of school,” a scary school nurse, a new first grade teacher, plus a stinky new baby; how could things get any worse? All Jake the Snake wants is a shiny new bicycle. Except Mom is too busy decorating for the stinky baby to go shopping for a snazzy bike with dangly streamers. When Jake the Snake barfs all over the clean floor on the first day of school and has to visit scary Nurse Pickadilly, he is sure life couldn’t get any worse. That is, until Grandma Nelson announces that Mom and Dad have gone to the hospital to get the stinky baby! Find out what other stinky surprise is in store for Jake the Snake in this hilarious second release."
A great book for early readers, Jake is always into mischief. The illustrations are really cute and depict the situations nicely. It's easy to read and I wish this series had been out when my children were younger. They would have loved it!
Shelly shares with us her thoughts on writing!
Writing, writing, and more writing….I think I am addicted to writing.
Sure, I have other interests. I love to cook; therefore, I run. Lol. I ski, because my house sits smack dab on a ski slope. I love to lie next to the pool in the scorching sunshine. But while I bask on the lounge chair, listening to the roar of my four children acting like true pool menaces; somehow, above all the raucous, 10,000 ideas pop into my head like an overheated popcorn popper. And that is why I write. Whether writing three-page emails to my lifelong best friend, making up silly poems for special occasions, writing memoirs of my family on my blog, creating short stories for children’s magazine, or writing about “Jake the Snake;” writing is my #1 favorite pastime.
If you are an aspiring author, I have six words of advice, “Never give up! Write! Write! Write!”
In 2006, I enrolled in writing classes through the
During my writing classes at ICL, I wrote 12 short stories and articles. Each (to my surprise) were published in children’s magazines! My last assignment for the first writing course was a book manuscript. For a few years, I had been thinking about writing a children’s book based on my youngest son’s antics. Yes, Jacob (my now seven-year-old and much calmer-than-before child) had always been quite the character! A few years ago, he did everything from swinging on the dining room chandelier to planting a Marigold in the canister of hot cocoa mix. One time he painted the bedroom furniture with hand lotion. He built a sandcastle with my laundry detergent. He ate a piece of cat poop. And he used the toilet as a matchbox car carwash. Ah! Jacob! So much inspiration I’ve retained from this child!
If you are trying to find ideas for your own writing, look for inspiration all around you! I always get story ideas from my kids. Recently, I wrote a short story that was published in Stories for Children magazine in June ’09. The story was entitled “PINK!” and was inspired by my daughter who is obsessed with the color pink! Even in A Stinky Surprise for Jake the Snake, the color pink is used a lot!
I want other kids to love my stories as much as my own kids do. That’s why I try to make my stories funny and realistic. Put yourself into the mind set of your character. It really is a lot of fun. You, yourself, can be a kid again! Find the fountain of youth through your writing!
Thank you, Wendy, for hosting me on your blog. I hope you all will visit my website www.booksbyshelly.com. Have a great day, and happy reading and writing! –Shelly Nicholson
