Interview with Ashlyn Chase with Giveaway

Hi Ashlyn—thanks for your generous donation of your time to answer a few questions.

1. Can you tell us what inspired you to write Strange Neighbors?

Ashlyn: Sure. It was a fusion of two ideas. One, I had heard that Tom Brady (heartthrob quarterback for the New England Patriots) owned and lived in a Boston condo. At least he did a while ago. Later, I was talking to one of my current suburban neighbors about when I lived in Boston’s Back Bay and how I was thinking about setting a paranormal comedy there. We reminisced about our younger days and our experiences renting in different cities and found that we had some similar stories. To make it even more interesting, I created some very unique characters.

2. Do you match your character faces to real ones? If so, whom to you see as Chad? Where does he get his attitude?

Ashlyn: Not really. Or if I do use a ‘face’ it’s a model with no personality attached to it. If I pictured an actor, I’d wind up with that actor’s persona intruding on my character’s personality, voice and mannerisms. If I had to describe Chad as a real person, I’d say he’s closest to a skinny Linc from Mod Squad.

3. What book is currently on your nightstand?

Ashlyn: You mean my iPod? That’s what I read in bed so a lamp doesn’t disturb my hubby. At the moment I’m reading a Harlequin novel called Dancing in the Moonlight. In paperback during the day I’m reading Desiree Holt’s Do You Trust Me? I usually have two or three books going at once.

4. What do you like to do when you are not writing?

Ashlyn: Watch TV or movies, shop, make jewelry…I wish I like to exercise, but sadly, I don’t.

5. Are you currently working on another novel?

Ashlyn: Yes, the third in the series. The second one, The Werewolf Upstairs is done and just waiting for line edits. The one I’m working on now is about the vampire and one of the witches. I’m over halfway through the first draft and it’s coming along well. Soon I’ll be plotting a whole new series. Don’t worry, it’ll be more paranormal romantic comedy.

STRANGE NEIGHBORS BY ASHLYN CHASE—IN STORES JUNE 2010

He’s looking for peace, quiet, and a little romance…
There’s never a dull moment when hunky all-star pitcher and shapeshifter Jason Falco invests in an old Boston brownstone apartment building full of supernatural creatures. But when Merry MacKenzie moves into the ground floor apartment, the playboy pitcher decides he might just be done playing the field…

A girl just wants to have fun…
Sexy Jason seems like the perfect fling, but newly independent nurse Merry’s not sure she’s ready to trust him with her heart…especially when the tabloids start trumpeting his playboy lifestyle.

Then pandemonium breaks loose and Merry and Jason will never get it together without a little help from the vampire who lives in the basement and the werewolf from upstairs…

  6. HI Joder,

Am I going to break down and buy an ereader? LOL. I did more than that. I saw the first hybrid recently--a Levono netbook that swivels and turns into an ereader--and I said to my hubby, "I want to have that."

He was so delighted that I was finally embracing technology that he bought one for me!

The old grey donkey, Eeyore stood by himself in a thistly corner of the Forest, his front feet well apart, his head on one side, and thought about things. Sometimes he thought sadly to himself, "Why?" and sometimes he thought, "Wherefore?" and sometimes he thought, "Inasmuch as which?" and sometimes he didn't quite know what he was thinking about.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to leave a comment. It's appreciated.
