Lingering Spirit by Marilyn Meredith -Tour with giveaway

Policeman Steve Ainsworth keeps having premonitions that he is going to die if he stays in his current town, so he urges his wife Nicole, that it is in their best interest to move.   They do, to a small mountain town, and life is more simple, but good. But one night, Steve is gunned down at a routine traffice stop, and Nicole's life is never the same.

Just her and their two girls now, they try to come to terms with their grief. The community pulls together to help Nicole and her family, as well as her and Steve's family, but she doesn't know how to cope.  Then, after the funeral, she needs to make decisions but she isn't sure what to do.

Things begin happening at the house.  Doors slamming shut, drawers pulling open,  lights flickering on and she and the girls feel his hugs and kisses at night.  Nicole knows she needs to get on with her life, so she moves back home and the weird actions at night stop.  Nicole thinks she did what Steve would have wanted her to do.

Then she buys a house for her and the girls.  Her oldest daughter, Kimberly, seems to be handling the loss of her father ok, but her youngest daughter, Sarah, is not.  She had a fight with her dad the day he left and she now feels tremendous guilt and anger.  Nicole has her begin to see a therapist.

Then there is the man who says he was a friend of Steve's who wants to protect her.  Nicole knows he can't know how she feels so she spurns him.  But, then the strange occurrences begin at her home and she isn't sure what Steve wants her to do again.  She just wants Steve to be at peace, and for her and her daughters to move on with their life.  And that man keeps parking outside her window each night...

Lingering Spirit is touching and heart-wrenching.  There is romance, ghosts, grief, peace, and acceptance.  Page-turning with complex and realistic characters, Ms. Meredith is truly gifted in her writing.

The old grey donkey, Eeyore stood by himself in a thistly corner of the Forest, his front feet well apart, his head on one side, and thought about things. Sometimes he thought sadly to himself, "Why?" and sometimes he thought, "Wherefore?" and sometimes he thought, "Inasmuch as which?" and sometimes he didn't quite know what he was thinking about.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to leave a comment. It's appreciated.
