Masked edited by Lou Anders

Like superheros? Evil vs Good?  Comic books? If you answered yes to any of those, you will want to check out Masked! An anthology of epic proportions, filled with superhero fiction from some of the biggest names in fantasy, comics, and science fiction.

Some of the titles of the short stories really made me take another look - very catchy.  For example:

Message from the Bubblegum Factory (by Daryl Gregory)

Where Their Worm Dieth Not (by James Maxey)

Had to read those just to understand the title! Yep, I didn't read cover to cover, I confess.  I flipped back and forth throughout the book, reading the stories out of order.  But it was ok! I met some interesting characters, villians, superheroes, and found some new-to-me authors.  I'm not going to review each story, there are fifteen of them.  I will however give you a few descriptions

In Head Cases, the authors blast through the blogosphere to expose the secret longings of a Lonely Superhero Wife.

In the Non-Event, the author removes the gag order on a super-thief named Lockjaw, and pries out a confession of life-altering events.

There are stories from Marjorie M. Liu, Mike Carey, Stephen Baxter, Bill Willingham, Chris Roberson and many many more.  Very entertaining - I loved reading everyones take on their own superhero! I was not disappointed.  This is one that fans won't want to miss!

The old grey donkey, Eeyore stood by himself in a thistly corner of the Forest, his front feet well apart, his head on one side, and thought about things. Sometimes he thought sadly to himself, "Why?" and sometimes he thought, "Wherefore?" and sometimes he thought, "Inasmuch as which?" and sometimes he didn't quite know what he was thinking about.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to leave a comment. It's appreciated.
