Concrete Operational: The Collection Review & Giveaway (International)

THE BOOK
Synopsis:
Germany Germany escaped a world that turned from the pursuit of greatness to the pursuit of celebrity, the pursuit of fame. Now, hiding from a planet that is absorbed, encapsulated and completely loyal to The Benefit and their show, Germany and the others on their island struggle for survival and understanding of what went wrong, and how they can possibly change things.
Richard Vortigern is a man at the pinnacle of the universe. He and his brethren, The Universal Negotiators, have settled and pacified mankind, the human race has come to a languid state, but Richard sees an end befitting of mankind’s timeless struggle. He enacts a plan, one that will span the course of eons of human history and turn humanity into children of the stars, an ultimate super being.

Richard’s plan needs someone, it needs a man, it needs one of times greatest hero’s to ensure its success, it needs one man that changed things before, one man with more fire and rage in his being than any other, it needs Germany Germany. Time, fate, causality, love, fear, might and the power of will cross as Richard puts in motion his plan and Germany Germany comes to understand the nature of the universe, of time, of being,in this unrelenting look into the human condition and why we are all here.

My Thoughts:

This is a novel unlike any other novel you will read.  It is fascinating, captivating, and will make you think and most of all, make you feel.  Germany Germany is a very complex character that is so well thought out you could probably read the book again and again and still find new developments that you didn't catch the first time.  The worlds are painted so vividly that you can feel and hope and despair for those that inhabit them.  This is truly a beautiful book, and it will make you think, it will make you feel and it will make you cringe in fear. It will also make your heart to thump in anticipation or excitement and to swell with love and it will make you question. I'm going to read it again and I don't do that very often!!

THE ART BOOK

The ART Book is a collaboration of five artists with very different styles.  Each artists represents an emotion that you can also relate to in The BOOK.  Jealousy, Madness, Anger, Desire, and Love.  Each section shows their work, a bit of background of each artists and a section and page of how it companion's THE BOOK.  This work is phenomenal and it really gives you more insight to the book.  Here is a picture of Jealousy.

THE MUSIC

There are five songs on this cd, inspired by The Book.   Again, each one will replicate one of the emotions that tie into the Art Book and The Book seamlessly.  Now, you can not only see the written word, the art, but you can now hear the music. Again, five different artists collaborated on this cd and you will revisit the story with another sense, your hearing.

Concrete Operational is a collaborate media project that Richard Galbraith considers as one possible future for the book.  It seems most publishing companies are leaning toward the electronic book and print on demand.  But it comes secondary to the real reason for writing, creating art, or creating and listening to music; and that is to explore the emotions that those creations derive. He truly has created a magnificent collection, one that I quite enjoyed in all aspects.

  69. The name of one of the Collaborators on this Collection is Gareth Hopkins

"The instant I saw Gareth’s work I knew I wanted him involved. His black ink images create densely patterned works which forces movement around the page through shape and contrast. It’s intense and can give the impression of an optical illusion through its deep lines and stark contrasts of colour."

I picked this artist because I enjoy ink drawings.
