Mailbox Monday
Damaged by Pamela Callow
For Review
From Amazon - Callow's romantic suspense debut introduces Kate Lange, a new attorney with one of the top law firms in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She's frustrated at receiving a steady diet of family law cases, but a routine consultation with Marian MacAdam, who wants custody of her granddaughter, Lisa, proves considerably more exciting when the teen is found savagely murdered. Callow throws in standard complications: Lisa's mother is an influential judge, and the assigned detective is Kate's ex-fiancé. Kate advised Marian not to seek custody and ignored her own instinctive urge to call Child Protection Services, believing that bringing a case against a judge would wreck her career; now she worries that her hesitation led to Lisa's death
Paul is Undead by Alan Goldsher
Upcoming Tour
From Review - Are readers ready for a world in which the Beatles just wanna eat your brains? Goldsher (Hard Bop Academy) thinks so, and he may be right. In this humor-filled splatterfest, the rise and fall of the zombie Beatles unfolds through eyewitness accounts, newspaper clippings, and interviews. Violence and music go hand-in-hand as the zombiefied Lennon, Harrison, and McCartney fight, eat, and rock their way to fame and popularity while ninja lord Ringo Starr tries to keep them out of trouble. Nothing can stop them--not even a vampiric Pete Best, zombie-killing Mick Jagger, rival ninja Yoko Ono, or bad reviews. In fact, their only enemies may be one another, as personal conflicts threaten to break them up for good. Roughly paralleling the real-world career of the Beatles, this alternate history reimagines successes, failures, and rivalries with over-the-top bizarro charm.
Masked by Moonlight by Nancy Gideon
Upcoming Tour
From Amazon - Gideon kicks off a paranormal romance series with intriguing characters and zippy action. Det. Charlotte Caissie has spent years working homicides for the New Orleans PD. She links a savagely mutilated murder victim to crime boss Jimmy Legere, and suspects Legere's enforcer, Max Savoie, might know more than he's telling about the attack. Max has lusted after Charlotte for years, and after Max saves her from would-be rapists and reveals he's the hero who once rescued her from kidnappers, Charlotte starts to share his feelings. Despite Max's monstrous shape-shifting abilities and probable involvement in her case, they soon surrender to mutual attraction. Charlotte walks a razor-fine line with her professional ethics and romantic life, but Gideon deftly avoids writing herself into corners and masters the tension required to keep her complex and engaging story moving.

Shadowglass: The Shadowfae Chronicles by Erica Hayes
He has to kill her, his life depends upon it. Her life depends upon his choice. Will love complicate everything?
Ice is a waterfae and a petty thief. She and her friend Blaze steal shiny baubles and sell them for cash to pay the Valenti mob for protection. She's also jealous of her beautiful friend Azure, who thinks herself in love with Blaze. Ice has always had a secret crush on the dark and handsome Indigo, but he won't give her the time of day.
Indigo has noticed Ice, and although she captures his attention, he always shakes himself back into reality. Indigo does not have girlfriends, period. He meets with a demon to deliver a cursed mirror at a party when Ice literally falls into his lap. Clenching his jaw, he bids her to go away.
But the demon Kane notices the young and pretty fae, and expresses his interest to Indigo. Jealous, Indigo tells him to mind his own business before he stalks out, their business concluded. But the Kanes's interest won't be curbed, and Ice soon finds herself deep within the dark demons chambers. Kane warns Ice not to stare into the glass, but she can't help it. She takes the mirror, thinking that it might be the way out of her two-bit life. But, the longer she has the mirror, the more the madness overtakes her.
Indigo is sent after Ice to destroy her and bring the cursed mirror back to it's rightful owner. If he fails, he loses his own life. But the two of them can't ignore the sizzle of passion between them, and as the curse of madness begins to take hold of Ice and Indigo, his determination to save her increases.
SHADOWGLASS, the second installment in the SHADOWFAE CHRONICLES is even better than the first in the series, SHADOWFAE. The passion is hotter and the thrills are faster. Readers will be hooked from the first page of this dark and dangerous urban fantasy.

The Missionary by William Carmichael and David Lambert
David and Christie Eller are missionaries in Caracas, Venezuela. They run the Hope Village, a mission that has a school, orphanage, and medical clinic. Christie is a nurse, and David takes care of the administrative duties.
When David brings home a young boy from the streets who is having trouble breathing, they fear he won't make it. But David is guilted with the fact of the other kids he left in the street. David and Christie can only help the children so much, but David wants to help them all.
When a ten minute speech on television is watched by a revolutionary, David has no idea that his impassioned and political talk could have so many repucussions. He feels that the government is at fault for all of the homeless and impoverished. Venezuelan sits on an ample oil supply, but instead of using that to help, the government sits in their big houses with their full bellies.
When a man approached David to help, just a minor role, in their quest to overthrow the government, he has no idea what to do. While he cannot explain to Christie, he has his own talk with God, and convinces himself that it is something he must do. But his choices soon have them in a nightmare and David is soon scrambling to get himself, his wife, and their young son out of the country. However, not only God is watching David, but so is the Fraternity, an elite team of assassins.
The Missionary is a thrilling, heart-thumping, page-turning novel with many layers. A dominoe affect, where one choice can affect so many other things, is a lending subtext through-out. The plight of the children is heart-breaking, but the work of the Hope Village is full of hope. This novel will stay with me for days, as the messages it sends are thought-provoking, and set in a realistic setting. Fantastic!

The Versatile Blogger Award
1. I still use my cassette tape player. I can't buy new music on cassette tapes, but I play all of hubby's old 70's and 80's. I'll play them until they expire lol
2. I can't wink. I've tried to learn through the years, and I've accepted the fact that is isn't going to happen!
3. I love the smell of dried on the line sheets, blankets, clothes! Not my towels though, I like those soft!
4. I rarely watch TV, but I do have a few favorite shows that can't be missed -- like GLEE!! I'd rather read a book than watch TV.
5. The ice cream truck song drives me to psychotic thoughts - I can't stand it! It makes me want to scream and shout and not in a good way.
6. I can't tan. I love the sun, but I always burn, peel, burn. I've accepted it, but am envious of all those sun worshippers all nice and brown.
7. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I'm in love with Dean Winchester of Supernatural.
Now, to bestow this lovely award to 15 new blogs I've recently found. I have to thank Jen at Crazy for Books for her friday book blog hop or I probably wouldn't have found most of them.

and Falling, fly by Skyler White
A neuroscientist who does not believe in what he cannot see or touch. A fallen angel who is looking for a way back to the Heavens. When the two of them collide, sparks fly.
Dominic O'Shaughnessy is a neuroscientist. Wonderfully gifted with intelligence and good looks, Dominic has been plagued with visions since he was twelve. Believed to be "Reborn", reincarnated over and over again, Dominic lives memories of the past through his uncontrollable visions. They are not memories of his own past, but memories of others before him. Dominic does not believe in reincarnation and believes himself to have a mental illness. He pops pills to try and keep the visions under control, but he is determined to find a scientific solution to his problem.
Olivia is an Angel of Desire, fallen and damned for all eternity. She is just a shell, unable to feel hate, love, or pain. She is a vampire, feeding off other's desire for her, and she spends her immortal life seeking a loophole. She wants her curse reversed, she wants to love, she wants to fly. But after many years, she is discouraged and her despair rises within her that she seeks shelter in an underground labrynth in Ireland. She is ready to stop her search for the loophole and commit to becoming fully damned.
Dominic's research leads him to Ireland, and he revisits the underground hotel. He wants to test the vampires, see if he can find the neurons to reverse or eliminate memories of what darkness overtakes them. But on his first day there, a beautiful woman appears and when their eyes meet, the pull is too much for them to ignore.
Olivia would love to be set free by love and be returned to heaven, and she wants Dominic to use her in his research. But, Dominic refuses because Olivia is a vampire, and if his mind accepts that, then he will have to accept his own delusions. However, Dominic and Olivia's desires won't be quenched, and as they find love, they realize that they will have to sacrifice something, or they will have to let one another go.
AND FALLING, FLY is a dark and mysterious tunnel that beckons from the light at the end of the tunnel. However, it is a challenge to get to it's goal, as the journey is long and dark, and the path is full of twists and turns. Dominic and Olivia are two unique characters that are diverse, dark and compelling. The world Ms. White has built is haunting, yet personified. Fantasy and Paranormal lovers will enjoy this, but it is not light reading or the faint of heart. The story Ms. White tells is unique in it's presentation and will stay with you for days to come.
