Message to Love by Liz Arnold

Audra Wakely’s father has been seized by Spanish authorities and imprisoned for sympathizing with Cuban rebels. Raising the money to bribe officials, if necessary, she sets off for Cuba to rescue her father. She doesn’t bargain on the interference of any U.S. officials—that is, until she meets Rollins McBride.

Lt. Rollins McBride of the newly designated U.S. Naval Intelligence service is assigned to track Audra on her journey. He’s to arrest Greg Wakely, a U.S. citizen, for treason and gun smuggling. His mission and his heart are taken by surprise by the feisty beauty who sets a stubborn path toward finding her father and proving he isn’t a traitor—no matter what or who gets in her way.

Audra, on the eve of graduation from school, is given the news of her father's incarceration.  As the heir to Greg Wakely's tobacco estate, she is torn what to do.  The plantation is on the verge of bankruptcy but she needs the money to travel to Cuba to prove her father's innocence and free him from prison.

Jasen Angler owns a neighboring plantation and has had his eye on the Wakefield estate, as well as on beautiful young Audra.  His own estate is on the verge of foreclosure unless he can get access to the money he has stashed on foreign soil.  When an opportunity falls in his lap to buy part of Wakefield, he is determined to get the money to purchase it.

When Audra and Rollins leave for Cuba, Audra is frustrated.  Rollins treats her like she is made of glass, when she is used to taking care of herself.  It doesn't help that he believes her father guilty and is aiming to arrest him.  But even with all of that, they cannot help themselves from falling for each other.

But Jasen decides to tagalong to Cuba with them, and his intervention doesn't help matters.  Rollins and Jasen quarrel incessantly, but is it because they don't like one another or is someone trying to cover his tracks of something illegal?

The stakes heat up in Cuba when Audra needs to make a life-altering decision. Will she be able to free her father or is he guilty as charged? Will Audra and Rollins be able to learn to trust one another to build a life together? You'll have to read to find out!

The old grey donkey, Eeyore stood by himself in a thistly corner of the Forest, his front feet well apart, his head on one side, and thought about things. Sometimes he thought sadly to himself, "Why?" and sometimes he thought, "Wherefore?" and sometimes he thought, "Inasmuch as which?" and sometimes he didn't quite know what he was thinking about.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to leave a comment. It's appreciated.
