Lethal by Sandra Brown

Honor Gillette, second grade teacher, widow and mother of young Emily, is preparing cupcakes for a birthday party when her world as she knows it is turned upside down. A man, who tells Emily he is sick, is laying in her front yard. But when she goes to help him, he pulls a gun on her and tells her that as long as she and Emily do everything he says they won't get hurt.

Lee Coburn is on the run for killing seven people at the Trucking Company he worked at. Honor's husband's name was well-known at the company and Lee has paid attention. He knows that the late Eddie Gillette had something valuable, and he wants it. Honor explains to Lee that she doesn't know what he is talking about, but to no avail.

What transpires is a heart-thumping journey across the country. Corruption, deceit, romance and more will keep you up late turning the pages in this addictive and fast-paced thriller. Sandra Brown is at the top of her game!

The old grey donkey, Eeyore stood by himself in a thistly corner of the Forest, his front feet well apart, his head on one side, and thought about things. Sometimes he thought sadly to himself, "Why?" and sometimes he thought, "Wherefore?" and sometimes he thought, "Inasmuch as which?" and sometimes he didn't quite know what he was thinking about.
