Unbelievers by Julie Affleck Tour & Giveaway


Unexplained deaths have occurred in the tiny village of Mount Stewart, Prince Edward Island, for more than half a century. Every five years, to be exact, the river claims a victim. 

This year, thirteen year old Leigh Kennedy and her friends are destined to die. Can Leigh find out why this has been happening in time to escape their fate?

Unbelievers is geared toward a middle grade reader.  Leigh Kennedy is only thirteen, but I did enjoy this short book.  The first few pages of the prologue really enticed me to read further as it promised suspense.

Affleck has a way with words that make a scene spring to life and Leigh Kennedy, as well as her friends, seemed to be well developed and easily relatable to.   If you enjoy middle grade fiction, then you will enjoy the Unbelievers.  If you have a child from eight - fourteen, they would probably enjoy it as well. A great cast of characters and a suspenseful plot will keep you turning the pages.

Julie Affleck lives on a small island in Canada called
Prince Edward Island. There she raises her four children while
desperately searching for time to write!She loves reading kids books
to her children. Her favorites are any Robert Munsch books and the
Pinkalicious series.She will always find time for Nora Roberts, Karen
Robards, Dean Koontz, and Stephen King.

      I don't have any life experience with my middle-grade, Ya novels thank goodness! But I am working on a picture book series with a fabulous illustrator that I can exaggerate my kids' 'experiences!

The old grey donkey, Eeyore stood by himself in a thistly corner of the Forest, his front feet well apart, his head on one side, and thought about things.
