HotBlood, A House of Slide Novel by Juliann Whicker
He stole a kiss from the wrong girl…
Left without a soul, 17-year-old Dariana Sanders waited to die. There was nothing left to live for, nothing to feel besides the aching cold that never stopped. Her parent’s marriage was in shambles, and her brother, the only one who understood, the only one who knew how to make the cold go away, was gone forever. The only thing Dariana knew with absolute certainty was that nothing could possibly be right again. Enter Lewis Axel Nialls. Luckily for her, impossible is right up his alley. He can save her from the forces that wish to destroy her. Of course who’s going to save him, from her?
Dariana's brother stole her soul and then kept her alive. Now that he is dead, she is constanty cold. She is the Daughter of the House of Slide, a house that Satan comes from. A house that knows how to fight with deadl precision. There are also the Cools, the Wilds, and the extinct Hollows. They all have their own supernatural flavor.
The book opens with Devlin's funeral and Lewis's first look at the girl. Lewis watches the Sander household, watching Darianna die. He cannot understand how her brother could have siphoned her soul and not been punished for it. But the more he comes to know Dari, the more he wants to save her.
Satan lives in the basement of the Sanders house. All of the Sanders are white-faced and dark-eyed. All except Dari. She knows she is dying, and she waits for it. But with Lewis she begins to feel something, a connection. But can he save her? They are two entirely different classes......or will she turn on him?
Hotblood is a great YA paranormal romance with tons of action, supernatural characters and a splash of romance. The characters are well-developed with unique characteristics that adds to the story. The writing is superb, flowing along seamlessly so well that before you know it, you are caught in Juliann's web and content to stay immersed in this story. The character classifications are very unique and I look forward to reading about more about them. With demons, furies, a cranky old uncle known as Satan, Pete, Ace, Dari and Lewis and more, the whole cast of characters will keep you guessing how the story will turn out. Young Adults and Adults alike who enjoy urban fantasy/paranormal romance will find something to enjoy in the Hotblood, House of Slide novel!

The old grey donkey, Eeyore stood by himself in a thistly corner of the Forest, his front feet well apart, his head on one side, and thought about things. Sometimes he thought sadly to himself, "Why?" and sometimes he thought, "Wherefore?" and sometimes he thought, "Inasmuch as which?" and sometimes he didn't quite know what he was thinking about.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to leave a comment. It's appreciated.
