Phone Fetcher Review & Giveaway

I don't know about you, but I'm always losing my phone.  Not only that, but I carry alot of things with me everyday, so I use a large bag.  What usually happens? My phone makes its way to the bottom of the bag, and when I hear it ring, or I get a text, I spend precious moments either diving for the phone or pulling everything out to find it!

I've had the pleasure to try the Phone Fetcher.  I have been using it now for over a week and to be honest, I don't know how I've survived all this time without it.  It's one of the best new products I've seen in years.

It has a hook on one end, then a stretchy bungee cord that has an end that plugs into the headphone jack of your phone.  I've been hooking the fetcher on the side loop of my purse.  Everytime I need my phone I just tug lightly on the cord and here comes my phone, with no hassle!! Not only that, but I don't need to unhook it to use it.  The cord stretches so it's easy to text without unhooking it.

My husband has been borrowing it as well.  He hooks it onto his belt loop and the phone slides easily into his pocket.  Both of my kids have asked for them for their backpacks.  I'll never have to worry about leaving my phone somewhere again or missing calls because I'm diving into my purse.  When I do unhook my phone, I leave the Phone Fetcher attached to my bag, hanging on the outside.  This way I know when I'm leaving, that I don't have my phone.  Great reminder!

The Phone Fetcher comes in 8 fun colors and a silver chain model will be available in about six weeks.  If you're looking for that unique gift for your mom, a gift you know she will use, definitely think about the Phone Fetcher! I LOVE this product!!

My Mother, My Son by Dwayne Clark + Giveaway

My Mother, My Son illustrates the power of love and a cruel twist of fate. A son who came from a struggling family that had little means was able to fulfill his mother’s lifelong dream to be successful, a “big shot” with all the status and trappings that entailed. Little did they know that her dream would end with a disease that had become an integral part of his livelihood.

As Dwayne Clark became a successful executive in the senior living industry, his mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and became a resident of one of his memory care communities. Even though his life’s work dealt with the elderly and memory loss, he still has to come to terms with the diagnosis and the painful realization that his mother would one day forget who he was and the dreams and memories they had shared. This story chronicles the life of the author’s feisty and wildly devoted, single mother, her childhood in India, the memories of a struggling young family and the many life lessons that she taught him along the way.

MY THOUGHTS

My Mother, My Son is a touching memoir.  Taking a journey with the Clark family, from the fun times Dwayne spent with his mother to the turbulent times when she begins her own fight with Alzheimer's, this is a hard-to-put-down book.  I have a friend whom's life has been turned inside out as her mother slowly loses herself to the disease.  Not only is it hard for the person themself, but the emotional turmoil it can do to a family is heart-breaking.  This book is well-worth the read to anyone who is struggling with someone they know with the disease, or if you're like me, a mother with a son.  A bond that transcends time, a mother always wants the best for her child.  A brave, brutal, honest and yet inspiring novel that will edge its way into your heart.

Horten's Miraculous Mechanisms‏ by Lissa Evans

When Stuart Horten moves to Beeton with his family, he is convinced that there is nothing at all to do. His father, a crossword designer, persuades him to take a brief “perambulation”, where they encounter Uncle Tony Horton’s house, neglected and abandoned. Uncle Tony, a magician who created many unique magic contraptions, is long gone. He disappeared without a word. Where is he? Finding out what happened to him is the heart of this enchanting adventure.

This book was entertaining and perfect for middle readers. Stuart, the short little boy in a family of tall people, wants to figure out the family mystery. He is rather clever and connects the dots by putting together the clues that he is given. His plans are not without flaws, however. He miscalculates, gets caught by the villain, and needs help. Solving a mystery is difficult, after all. In the end, Stuart has to make a choice that forces him to decide between himself and others. He learns vital lessons about family, friendship, and appreciating what you have.

The supporting characters in this book are charming. Stuart’s father, with his expansive vocabulary, is frustrating to Stuart, but I enjoyed his relationship with his son. April, May, and June, the triplets who live next door to Stuart, chronicle his misadventures in their homemade newspaper. They are a thorn in Stuart’s side (at first), but provide comic relief. Only April is a character of any importance until the end of the story, but she is a spunky and clever girl. I would hope that all the triplets would have more of a presence in any future books. I also loved Leonora, the older, blind woman who helps Stuart.

The combination of magic, mystery, and adventure in this story was so much fun to read. Middle readers will be eager to follow the clues with Stuart and solve the puzzle of the missing magician.

Valkyrie’s Vengeance by Suzie Grant

Stranded on foreign soil. Rescued and raised by the enemy. Tyra Svensdottir declares war on her own people after witnessing the death of the very woman who’d saved her life. Kidnapping the man who wields the sword of the underworld—Hel’s Hammer—Tyra forces him to repair her shipwrecked vessel. Her quest to kill the swordsman’s king takes them across frigid waters on a myriad of adventures and a voyage of sensual discovery.

Rorik Thorlicksson uncovers treachery within his clan but in order to return home to warn of the impending attack, he must yield to the woman holding him captive. Along their voyage he unravels the mystery behind his captor. He discovers she is the woman promised to him in wedlock at birth though her disappearance years ago released him from his betrothal. Dissuading the little heathen from her purpose and into his bed becomes a more appealing prospect with every passing day. Blood vengeance brings them together even as desire binds their hearts. Amongst the secrets and obscurities of their destinies, they find a love that spans a lifetime as well as an end to A Valkyrie’s Vengeance.

Valkyrie’s Vengeance was a good book. This was the first story I’ve read that involves Vikings, and I was pleasantly surprised by it. Tyra was a kick-butt protagonist. She was strong, determined, and a girl who you do not want to mess with. Rorik was my favorite character though. He’s enjoyable, intriguing, and just as strong as Tyra, so you definitely want to stay on his good side. I loved the interactions between the two of them. Their romance was fun to read about.
The writing was very descriptive.  The author made it very easy to picture myself in Iceland. The plot was also extremely fast-paced. Unlike some books, there weren’t parts throughout that were slow. Instead, it seemed like there was never a dull moment. When there is so much happening, it can be overwhelming. Fortunately, it was pulled off quite well.
Despite everything that was great about this book, it felt like there was something missing. I don’t know what it is, but something just wasn’t there. I really wish I knew what. Whatever it was, it took away from the enjoyment of the book.
All in all, this was an entertaining read. I recommend it for anyone who is a fan of Historical Fiction.

Earth Blend by Lori Pescatore

Earth Blend is the second book in the Blend trilogy and the sequel to Human Blend. In this installment, the mysteries of the Blends and Earthlings are revealed. How can Julie live a normal life when she is anything but normal? Her relationship with Austin is complicated by emerging abilities in them both. Trust is hard to come by as lies and secrets hinder them at every turn. Is the past destined to repeat itself as the Earthlings once again rush to save them? Ensuing chaos breeds fatal consequences.

My Thoughts: This is the third book I read with aliens living on earth. The first book was The Host by Stephenie Meyers and the second book was Human Blend by Lori Pescatore, the first book in the blend trilogy. They are similar by the fact that the aliens blend in and that is it. I am loving this trilogy. Lori Pescatore has me wanting to see how the story ends.

In Earth Blend, the story starts out with a little history lesson on the group of characters. I was captured in each history of the earthlings and the blends. The story picks up where the first book left off about 1/4 of the way there. It started out a little slow, but that is okay because it does pick up with the secrets that were being reviled. It makes you wonder what other secrets will lie in the next book and will find it's way out. Julie and Austin were dealt with life changing events in the first book that seemed to pull Julie farther away from him but not being able to. They need each other and they find out more so and I really enjoyed watching their relationship grow as they both learn more about themselves.

In Earth Blend we also get to see more of the earthlings. You get to see more of their abilities throughout the story and couple more characters are introduced to us. They might be minor characters but are important to the story. I though each character was valuable to the main characters. I really enjoyed the parts between Eli and Percone they truly are like brothers that don't get along very well. I enjoyed this book just as much as the first one. I found it to be a quick read and found that I am really enjoying the supernatural style books. The story was an easier read with lots of twist being revealed, solved, and opening up more options for the next book Julie's life.

Made From Earth - Olive Night Cream Product Review

When I was younger, my mom always put cream on her face before bed.  I never understood why, until I was in my mid-thirties.  My skin isn't as supple and tone as it used to be and I have these pesky fine lines around my eyes and mouth.  Next thing you know, I'm going to have some major wrinkles, so I am trying to maintain what I have until Mother Nature takes her course.

Made from Earth Olive Night Cream is very lush.  I love olives, but their scent is unappealing to me.  Thankfully, this smells nothing like them! It has a fresh scent and a tiny bit goes a long way.  Olive oil is rich in anti-oxidants, which will not only help prevent some of those pesky fine lines and wrinkles, but will also deeply moisturize your skin.

I just apply a little bit, in an upward stroke, all over my face and neck before I go to bed.  When I wake up, my skin is so soft and silky! I can really tell it's working and that is A+ in my book! It's a little pricey, but well worth the cost! I love this product!

Forbidden Magic by Jennifer Lyon Tour (Review + Giveaway)

ABOUT THE BOOK

Wing Slayer Hunter, Ram Virtos, must find his soul mirror witch and convince her to mate with him before his Thunderbird tattoo kills him. But while that witch might be able to save Ram’s life, it is the mysterious Ginny Stone who inflames his passion. Ginny has been deeply fascinated by Ram for months, but dared not act on it or she’d be torn from her mortal life on earth and thrust into her dreaded destiny as a half-breed angel. But when her beloved brother’s soul is at stake, she must do the one thing she both fears and desires… Take Ram to her bed.

MY THOUGHTS

I've read one or two of the Wing Slayer books, but to be honest, I haven't followed the whole series.  After reading Forbidden Magic, I learned that the series had been discontinued, but Ms. Lyon decided to self-publish and continue the series.  I'm so glad she did.

With complex characters and a strong plot, this novella reads like a full-length novel.  Not in page count, but it has all of the correct elements to leave the reader satisfied and entertained.  A good book should take you to another place, and that is just what Forbidden Magic does.  What a problem Ram has - wanting one, but needing another.  How do you choose?

Filled with complex and likable (yeah Ram is hot!) characters, compelling and emotionally invested situations and five star writing, Forbidden Magic is a fantastic read! I can't wait to go back and catch up on this series!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Jennifer Lyon grew up under the shadow of the Matterhorn at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. She attended Walt Disney elementary school and her very first playmate was her beloved dog, Duke, who was cast in the role of hero in all their adventures.
Clearly Jen was born to daydream. But it took her years to figure out how to turn her imagination into a career as an author. After marrying and becoming a full time mom to three sons, Jen launched her career with the award winning Samantha Shaw Mystery Series and other romantic mysteries under the name Jennifer Apodaca. Later, she took the name Jennifer Lyon, combined her love of witches, alpha males and sizzling romance into another award winning series, the Wing Slayer Hunters.

Dr. Max Powers Stretch Mark Cream - Product Review

Stretch marks.  We have them and we hate them.  Mine are from having children, but my teenage son has alot of them from weight-lifting.  You'd think he would get them on his arms from lifting all of the weights, but instead he has them all over his back.  He hates them, so I was really excited to come across Dr. Max Powers Intensive Treatment Stretch Mark cream.

It has a minty smell, and when you rub it in, it takes awhile.  It's really white but when it begins to disappear, I know it's being absorbed.  My son is using it everyday and already can tell that some of the tightness in his lower back is released.

The cream is organic and promotes collagen production, not only giving your skin more elasticity but also reduces the visibility of the stretch marks.  Now that he is having some success with it, I'm going to use it myself!  Generously applied, you will also feel better knowing that the cream is formulated to provide nutrients and vitamins to your skin.  Who doesn't love healthy skin?

Right now, it's on sale for $9.00, a great bargain

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.comhttp://www.tomoson.com/?code=BOTTOM591e1011f845957a1f5956f325679088">Tomoson.com>. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

A Devil Named Desire by Terri Garey

Samuel 'Sammy' Divine is a fallen angel, the devil. His brother, Gabriel, is an archangel and still in heaven's good graces. Gabriel knows that his brother Sammy isn't all bad,  but he can't keep from nagging him to do better. So when the chance arises for Sammy to get back at Gabriel, he takes it.

Hope Henderson's sister is missing and her devastation leads her to a suicide attempt. Sammy jumps in at the right moment to offer Hope a deal. He'll help her find her sister, if she will do something for him. All she has to do is create a website that will allow his demon followers to enter the human world. Hope takes the deal without even thinking of the consequences.

One of Gabriel's jobs is to protect Hope, much to Sammy's dismay and glee. But what Gabriel doesn't count on is his feelings for Hope. When Gabriel is stripped of his wings and made mortal, he is tormented and conflicted. Sammy is used to being the bad boy, so he isn't sure why he feels any regret for setting his brother up like that. But later, when Sammy's son, Cain, is kidnapped, only Gabriel can save him. But why would he bother when Sammy has cost him so much?

With romance, family relationships and beliefs, A DEVIL NAMED DESIRE is a great addition to author Terri Garey's the DEVIL'S BARGAIN series. This installment can be read as a standalone, but you won't want to miss the fun in the first book, DEVIL WITHOUT A CAUSE. There is much character development in this installment, namely with Sammy, but also the author explores the lines of forgiveness, love and redemption. With a few laughs, clever writing and lively characters, A DEVIL NAMED DESIRE is a must read for paranormal romance fans!

A Lunatic Fear by B. A. Chepaitis

Jaguar Addams is back! Three prisoners are brought to Planetoid 3 with symptoms of exposure to chemicals that can come only from illegal moon mining -- but who's running the lunar mining game, and where are they processing the Artemis byproducts? Alex and Jaguar are caught in a hornet's nest of politics, profits, and psychoses, as both are driven into a moon madness that cannot be denied.

http://www.wildreads.com

The latest installment in Jaguar Addams is just as good, if not better, than it's predecessors.  A good chunk of action,  romance and plot driven suspense are just the tip of the iceberg in this thrilling futuristic urban fantasy.  Jaguar is a compelling and unpredictable heroine that will keep you guessing and up late turning the pages.  I highly recommend this series!!
